We are always updating and improving our Bullhorn Job Board Plugin, our latest update is focussed around speed, specifically syncing many fields spanning multiple entities (candidates, jobOrders, Applications, Notes, Files etc).
We were working on a particularly large Bullhorn Mass Updating project that required interacting with lots of fields in lots of entities. A test run of the project gave an estimate of almost 48 hours to run the whole data set, which is less than ideal. So we set about making a host of test calls to their REST API and gauging the speed of running.
Many things we tried were mentioned in the API documentation, many weren’t. Interestingly, different technique yield different results, some faster and some slower than the usual techniques.
Armed with the data on which methods produced the fastest results, we modified our mass update scripts and found a 37% speed improvement overall. This is great, scripts now complete quicker, in turn using less resource.
We then wondered if we could utilise these improvements within our job board plugin and you know what, it worked. Our popular plugin is now 21% faster syncing jobs from Bullhorn into your WordPress website. A typical sync only takes a second or two usually depending on the data being synced, but every small amount matters.
We are continuously looking at ways to improve our products, from speed updates to new features. Keep checking our blog for other updates, or if you have a suggestion on where we can improve, get in touch.
