GDPR, or General Data Protection Regulation is an EU regulation coming in to force in May 2018 that affects companies globally, not just the EU. Essentially, GDPR requires companies to protect the personal data and privacy of any EU based individual.
All recruiters especially need to be GDPR ready, or risk substantial fines (up to €20 million or 4 percent of global annual turnover, whichever is higher). Despite this, it is estimated that only 10% of companies are GDPR ready.
