Getting your jobs seen by candidates is essential for all recruiters, that’s why our Bullhorn to WordPress Plugin had built-in search engine optimisation (SEO) from day one. The latest version of our plugin improves upon this even further, helping search engines (not just Google, but yes, including Google) index all of your content.
There are several key factors search engines look for, amongst the most important are
- header tag
- title tag
- description meta tag
- keyword meta tag
- page url
- page content
Our Bullhorn plugin automatically creates your header tag for each job (based on criteria you choose, for example, the job title). We also create your title tag, again this can be in any format you choose, but typically in the format of
<title>Job title – Location – Job category – Your company name</title>
The url of the page also contains your job title and any other info you may need such as location.
Putting all of this together means that if someone searches for for example
“Bullhorn API Developer New York”
Then your available position of Bullhorn API Developer in New York will show up in the search results.
Exciting eh? All of this happens automatically, you do not need to do any extra work. However, you can also have full control over all of these tags using your Bullhorn custom fields. You could set customText1 for example to be the title tag text, anything you type in to customText1 will be served to the search engines as the title.
Our WordPress Plugin is by far the most search engine optimised Bullhorn Plugin available. If you are serious about getting your jobs infront of the right candidates, contact us to find out how our plugin will help your business.
The more astute of you still reading will be asking about the other tags we can place in to your website, as we have not yet mentioned about the description meta tag, keyword meta tag and page content. For you guys, here we go;
Google do not use the description and keyword meta tags (there is no official word on this from Google, but 99% of ‘web experts’ agree that this is the case), however there are many other search engines that do. If you want to get your jobs out to the greatest number of candidates, it’s best practice to still use meta tags.
That leads us to our final factor, page content. The job descriptions pull directly from Bullhorn (you can have an external description that only you see AND a public description in Bullhorn) so we do not have control over this. However, through coding we can tell search engines which part of the page is the job description. Doing this structures your data and helps search engines understand your job pages and rank them well.
There you have it, our Bullhorn to WordPress plugin just keeps on growing and improving. All features originate from client requests, so if you do have a requirement that is not in our plugin already (it most likely is), let us know and we’ll build it in for you.
We have a long history of SEO, we have been optimising websites since 1995, sure the techniques have changed a lot over the years but SEO is still as, if not more so important than before.
