Usefulness of data is only as good as the data itself, which is why many companies like to clean/sanitise their data before entering into a new CRM. Data issues such as incomplete records, data in the wrong place, super old data no longer needed or files you can’t open have little benefit, but after a good cleanse, this data increases in value exponentially.
There are lots you can do before importing data into Bullhorn. Here are some popular data preparations;
- data consistency – put all data into the same format for ease of reading
- correct formats – data to be imported may be in a different format. For example, the Bullhorn API requires dates to be in unix timestamp format, whereas your data may store dates in mm/dd/yyyy format
- cleanse the data – postcodes stored in city fields, landlines stored in mobile field etc. Clean your data before entering into Bullhorn.
- validate the data – is the email address still active, does the address exist, is the telephone number correct. There is no use spending time entering duff data
- consolidate your data – often data is provided from many sources. Bullhorn can store all this info in one place, consolidate and store to make your data protection worries melt away
